The Springs of Vernon Hills is an Alzheimer’s Special Care Center located in northeast Illinois near Chicago. Charles Hall Construction and South Bay Partners of Dallas came together to build the project, and both specialize in senior housing.
Residential in design, the facilities’ buildings have masonry accents to blend with the style of architecture in the village, so traditional high-style windows and doors were needed to match. At the same time, they needed to be energy-efficient as well as easy to operate and maintain.
- Who: Deceuninck North America, Lindsay Windows Illinois, Charles Hall Construction, South Bay Partners of Dallas, New Tech Exteriors
- What: New construction at The Springs of Vernon Hills, a single story senior living facility Over 400 windows and doors, including single hung, picture windows and patio doors, were installed.
- Why: “The Lindsay window has a superior specification on the thickness of the vinyl material at the meeting rail. This is important from two standpoints: It gives a better weather barrier in strong winds even if the window is not latched, and it adds security to prevent break-ins. Secondly, the ease of use with the balancing tube system is superior to other builder windows. I find much less damage during construction.” – Peter Robinson, Vice President, Charles Hall Construction, LLC
